Instructions for
Authors
of
Zoologica
Nova:
Papers are
welcome from any zoologist or observer with something newsworthy to contribute.
We are particularly interested in presenting descriptions of new species, or new
views concerning relationships, behavior, or conservation status of animals. If
you are in doubt, or have queries, please direct them to the editor. An
advantage of electronic publishing (aside from timeliness) is the ability to
include color illustrations, video files, and sound. Please be sure to construct
manuscripts that can take advantage of these features (though they are not
essential to manuscript acceptance).
Style should
follow the format for Copeia
and be submitted in Microsoft Word format. Authors are expected to do a spell
check and edit for grammar (which
spell check does not do) prior to submitting a paper. Send illustrations as .jpg
files. Papers sent out for review will be double blind: reviewers will not be given the author’s name(s). The final
decision to publish will rest with the editor.
Copyright for the
journal rests with The Virtual Museum of Natural History and the individual authors. However,
this journal is distributed free over the Internet, and may be downloaded by
anyone who cares to do so, provided
appropriate credit is given. Permanent copies burned onto CD-ROM will be
distributed gratis to a select number
of museum libraries, and additional copies may be purchased by subscription.
(We
are now assembling the editorial boards for both journals. Interested persons
please contact us at director@curator.org.)
