Range: Small islands of the eastern West Indies, Caribbean Sea.

Diagnosis: A large lizard with a brown coloring, large dorsal spines, and lacking a single large scale beneath the ear.

Description:

Natural History: Though known at lest since 1768, this species has been the subject of few published studies.

Reproduction: Lays eggs.

Taxonomy & Relationships: This and the green iguana (Iguana iguana) are the only two species in the genus.
