Range: Deserts of Arizona, Baja California, and northern Mexico.

Description:

Natural History: Few lizards are active and as tolerant of high temperatures as the desert iguana, which may be out feeding in 40° C heat. They are fond of desert flowers, and also feed on soft cactuses, leafy plants, and the occasional insect.

Reproduction: Egg layer.
