Sea kraits
This group of snakes was long considered a
part of the terrestrial family Elapidae. The combination of powerful neurotoxic
venom, small, fixed fangs, and a strongly banded body are similar to the elapid
kraits, hence the name.
All laticaudids are marine, but lay eggs on
land. They are generally found along tropical reefs where they hunt for fishes
and crustaceans.
